Corridor injection?

Post by Will »

Hi Balt,

I noticed something with the wind corridor injection tonight.

Origin: RJOM
Current Position: KMC (Komatsu VOR)
Time: 0216Z October 9, 2024
Altitude: FL410

SAT in PSX: originally -19C when reaching FL410, decreasing slowly, -25C as I type this

Wind Corridor Point:

RTFX1
N3349.2
E13242.6
FL163 245/032 +0
FL143 241/030 +3
FL123 239/029 +7
FL103 234/029 +11
8364 232/028 +15

It looks like the wind corridor point is still my origin location, RJOM, and the corridor point isn't updating. (The same wind corridor point has been present in PSX now for 42 minutes and counting... I'm 316 miles away from RJOM already.)

I think the altitudes of the wind corridor point were set when I was on the ground, and because there's been no updating, the altitudes are well below where I'm actually flying. That may be why the SAT at 41,000 feet was only -19C.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the report. It looks like there's a snag with the GFS data at present.

The next cycle processes in 30 minutes, will keep an eye on it and report back.

Found the problem. It looks like there have been issues over the past week with the on-demand starting of the GFS processing server (a 192 CPU beast). This cycle ran, but I need to put some effort into error proofing this when the launch fails. That's not something I ever saw coming.
