Occasionally I see two identical aircraft superimposed upon one another--identical callsign and data tags. When I see them in MSFS (injected by PSXTraffic), there are two aircraft in close formation, with two contrails (one for each).

Screenshots and exact times/places if needed; at this exact moment it's happening with THY51, 0313Z, 10/26/2024, over the Korea Straight (somewhere close to Tusushima).

Unless I'm misunderstanding the situation, it seems like one app or the other (either RealTraffic or PSXTraffic) should be filtering out colocated duplicates. Would that be possible? If that's a job best done by Nico, let me know and I'll post on his forum.

This is an unfortunate side-effect of one of the data sources providing their traffic based on callsign alone, instead of the transponder's hex ID. Matching of the traffic is done on the server side, removing the data without the hex ID as soon as it has been able to match the callsigns. If the callsigns differ, there's unfortunately the chance that the duplicate remains.

Next time you see this, can you please take note of the each of the callsigns and let me know what they were?

Here is another, from right now:

Callsign DAL158, aircraft N508DN, noted on 10/28/2024 0205Z over Sado, Japan.

The two data tags are for the outbound flight (KDTW-RKSI) and the inbound flight (RKSI-KDTW), and one has the MCP altitude and the other does not. Otherwise the data tags are the same and the two aircraft are at virtually the same position in space. Makes the data tags hard to read, but I managed.

Interesting, thanks for letting me know. It looks like a new issue I haven't seen before. If you select to show the Data Source from the data labels, you can see that DAL158 has one position from T_adsb and the other from ID_A_adsb. ID_* positions are from interpolated data that fills gaps between known positions (so it's not an estimate, but a substantive guess as to the real position).

I'll need to take a look at the interpolation algorithm and make sure it doesn't duplicate flights.
